Dreamy

Dreamy - Close Up

Returning to my studio the following day after visiting Sofia Stevi's exhibition I was inspired to make something pink to respond to her main frame of work. Just like Sofia Stevi I wanted to include the two main factors into my work, Scale and the colour pink. My trusty friend "The craft roll" allowed me to roll out a long piece of paper about the length of my wall. Once prepared I started spontaneously creating a pink background. Once I was satisfied with my background and finally got to look at what I had created so far. I instantly knew that my figure was going to be a woman. The length of the paper somewhat reminded me of the ideal model with long skinny legs. So this was now the look I wanted to capture in my work. In my Painting you will realise that there is no head in this painting. To me the head had no importance so I chose to deliberately leave it out, so I could focus on those long legs. I noticed the way I was sitting when mixing the paints with my legs crossed and I knew this was the pose I wanted to recreate, a lot of my poses come from the way I change to get comfortable in my studio chair.
